While the FDA has not approved zappers for use on humans or animals, they do accept that electricity can and does kill micro-organisms that may be living in water based conditions such as water, milk, fruit juices, etc. While the levels of electricity suggested by the FDA for use in these processes are far too high for use on humans, lower levels can be effective as illustrated in the video, ParaZapper Works!. In this light, it is important that research be conducted into the use of electricity for controlling and reducing infections in both animals and humans. Price for price, the dual frequency zappers offered by ParaZapper™ are better than any single frequency zapper, and due to its special internal circuitry, the CCa and the CC1 are even better than those with higher voltage and higher duty cycle. As a matter of point, the CCa is so much better than our competitor's zapper that they do not even show it in their comparison charts and the CC1, with 4 modes is even better. Please note that while some manufacturers claim to have a better zapper, there has never been any independent third party test to prove that any particular zapper is better than others. These claims are based on feedback from customers who have used only one brand of zapper. There are some claims that a competetor's product is better than older versions of our cheapest model. Our use of her name on this site is to give credit where credit is due. So how can you get one for personal use? The FDA regulates commerce (businesses) so we do not sell products for use on humans or animals.

Why water treatment? It is a good use for the zapper.
The zapper has been shown to kill microbes under microscopic observation. It is not known how large of a volume of water the zapper would be effective in, research carefully. We have observed that the small amount of electricity produced by the zapper can safely kill at least some potentially parasitic organisms living in water. In cooling towers and ponds, this can reduce some growth and odors, reducing the need for environmentally hazardous chemicals. In aquaria, it has been observed to help reduce fungal growth in some cases.

Where did the information go?

At one point, we had over 50 pages of information on this site regarding the use of the zapper. Unfortunately, the FDA stepped in and required us to either remove the information or stop selling zappers. Be SURE that the parasite zapper you buy is a dual frequency unit ( 2.5 kHz is better!) and quality tested (preferably on an oscilloscope).

What about zapper output frequency? In experimental testing, 2.5 kHz (2500 pulses per second) works significantly better than 30 kHz. In general, using both frequencies can be an improvement.

Using your ParaZapper

The ParaZapper™ is easy to use. Just hold the copper paddles in your hands or use the optional 3M straps. Turn the power on, select the desired frequency, and wait for 7 minutes. When the time is done, turn the power off. Wait 20 minutes and repeat two more times. Under normal usage, the battery should last several weeks to months ( most users responding report 1-2 months in a recent survey).

While some units automatically time the 7 minutes for you, we believe that the timing should be variable according to the users own needs. Sometimes, an extra minute or 2 might help and will not hurt. Some users report zapping for 1 hour a day continuous with no bad effects. Our Manual has additional information on the best and worst ways to zap, as well as information on what to do before, during, and after zapping.
