Emily Wilson grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and later received a BFA from the Memphis College of Art in 1982, with a focus in painting. She began to exhibit her sculptural work in wood in 1985. While much of her sculpture work is on display in reception areas and lobbies across the US, many of her other sculptures are in private collections. Her work is unique and is mostly composed wooden leaves, flowers, fronds, birds, and other life form representations on a metal armature. Her work is often complimented for its life like character, detailed structure, and vibrant colors.
